About Me

My photo
Hey everbody.. My name is Katie, i'm a senior at Edgar High and i am 17 yrs old. I only have one brother, and i can't even consider him a brother. I don't have any pets, but i do have the neighbors dog! I believe that the fact that i am adopted has shaped my life. If i wasn't adopted by my parents, i wouldn't be who i am today. I thank my parents for that. My mom is always there for me when i need her, sure she can be a mom, but she is always there as a friend too. Me and my parents are very close, and i think that is the way it will always stay. To me psycology is important because it is all over the place! It is one of those things that you will never be able to run away from. So everybody just has to lean back and accept it. The definition of psycology to me would have to be... The reasons why things happen and how they happen. The reasons we make the choices we do, why people are depressed, why some people are hyper, and why we act the way we act on a daily basis.

.Chaper.8.Blog.

I wasn't just going to keep doing psyblog stuff. So i thought i would be a little different and tell you what i did and didn't like in chapter 8. Well memory is: learning that has persisted over time. Just for the people out there that don't know.

Anyway, one thing that i didn't know is how there is so much to know about how you memorize things and with like, encoding, storage and retrival and stuff like that. When i used to think about memory, i used to just think that whatever you saw or wanted to remember, you did. I didn't think you really had a choice. One thing that i did know though was about sensory storage, long and short term memory. Right before we started learning about this stuff in this class, i learned about it in another class that i had. So it made this chapter alot easier for me.

One thing in this chapter that was really interesting to me is how stress and things going on in your life can affect the way you remember something. I also thought it was interesting that if you are studying for a test in a quite room, and you feel like you know it all, when it comes time to take the test and it is noisy, it will be hard for you to remember what you thought you knew. And if you had studied for the test in a noisy room, you would have already been used to it and it would have been easier for you to take the test. Cool huh?

I guess pro football teams play music and mumbojumbo really loud at their practices to make it easier for all the noise during a game. Weird, i know.
